Fallbrook woman dies after crashing through fence along SR76

FALLBROOK – A Fallbrook woman died Sunday, January 24, after suffering injuries in a single vehicle accident on State Route 76 earlier that day.

Maria Hemphill, 45, was driving westbound on SR76, east of Valley Center Road, when her vehicle veered off the highway and crashed through a fence.

The San Diego County medical Examiner’s Office said Hemphill sustained multiple skull fractures and intracerebral bleeding in the crash.

Hemphill died at Palomar Medical Center at 4:30 p.m., about five hours after the crash occurred.

Hemphill, who is survived by her husband and two children, would have turned 46 on Wednesday, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
