Community Center adds seated-exercise class

FALLBROOK - Fallbrook Community Center is adding a new class to its program that is suitable for ambulatory seniors and anyone who would prefer to get fit from a position of comfort and stability. This is a fun and lively seated-exercise class using music from the 1940s and 1950s, offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m.

Participants are welcome to sing along, enjoy the music and move at a pace they feel is appropriate for their fitness level. Wheel-chair users are welcome and students of other abilities may also find the class will benefit them.

Starting with a slower-paced warm-up, the class progresses to gentle aerobic conditioning, continues with functional strength moves using optional hand-held weights and ends with flexibility, balance and coordination exercises.

This class is taught by Sandra Buckingham, a certified fitness instructor specializing in Yoga, Pilates, water exercise and senior fitness.

Contact the Community Center, 341 Heald Lane (off East Fallbrook Street) at (760) 728-1671 or for information about this program and other community center activities.
