Four Warrior baseball players attend Arizona showcase

Four Fallbrook High School seniors traveled to Peoria, Ariz., for the Arizona Senior Fall Classic baseball showcase.

Pitcher-first baseman Cole Chandler, pitcher-outfielder Chase Johnson, pitcher Zak Rico, and outfielder Tyler Wedeking participated in the October 15-18 showcase.

“They all did really well,” said Fallbrook High School varsity baseball coach Jesse Schuveiller. “They all put on a real good showing there.”

The Arizona Senior Fall Classic baseball showcase, which was founded by the brother of former Fallbrook High School baseball coach Dave Heid, brought representatives from more than 200 four-year and two-year colleges to watch the players. Scores of the games were not kept, and time elapsed, rather than innings played, was the criteria for ending the games.

“It’s just a tremendous honor to have them go to a showcase like that,” Schuveiller said. “It’s a tremendous honor to coach these kids. They’re great athletes, and it’s just a tribute to them and a payoff for all the hard work they put in.”
