7,500 gallons of sewage spills into Santa Margarita River

CAMP PENDLETON - An estimated 7,500 gallons of sewage spilled this morning at the intersection of Teamwork St. and Training Street on USMC Camp Pendleton.
The spill, which authorities said was caused by a blockage in a manhole, started at 7:30 a.m. and was brought under control at 9 a.m. when crews from the USMC Camp Pendleton facilities maintenance department removed the blockage.
None of the sewage was recovered so all 7,500 gallons of the sewage flowed into a storm drain that leads to the Santa Margarita River.
