Sue Grafton's "U is for Undertow" lost in Fallbrook

It’s the latest (maybe greatest) alphabetic sleuthing assignment for Sue Grafton’s popular heroine, Kinsey Millhone.

This one I didn’t manage to read before Fallbrook library’s “new releases” time limit expired, so I knew there would be a fine to pay. At 25 cents each day a book is overdue, it was well worth it to me!

Well, on Shrove Tuesday, February 16, I asked my husband to return the book to the library because I was too busy entertaining British friends to a Pancake Day lunch in traditional style! Hubby departed in a rush – I wonder why! – and somehow left the book on the top of our station wagon as he drove away toward the Fallbrook Golf Club and then down Gird Road. When he arrived at the library – no book! So, where did it go?

We’ve scoured the curbs and bushes along Laketree and Gird Road, and reported the loss to the library. So far, the book has not re-appeared. Is someone out there reading it? If so, please let me, or the library know. I believe there is a “fine forgiveness” on the last Friday of the month. Otherwise, we may have to alert Sue Grafton in Santa Barbara and request Kinsey’s services to solve this mystery!
