SAN DIEGO - A 19-year-old Camp Pendleton-based killed in combat in Afghanistan on Monday was identified today.

Lance Cpl. Carlos A. Aragon of Orem, Utah, died in Helmand Province, according the Defense Department.

Aragon was a member of 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger offered condolences to Aragon's family and friends.

''The loyalty and dedication he displayed while defending our nation's freedoms are an inspiration to us all, and his service to our country will not be forgotten,'' the governor stated.
