Weber led the way with a trifecta, winning a gold medal in Mathematics, silver in Language and Literature and bronze in Science. Colburn won a gold medal in Interview, posting a perfect score of 1000, while Casey took silver in Science and McKissick took bronze in Mathematics.
By receiving medals twice each in the Science and Mathematics categories, the Warrior Academic Decathlon team took third place in the team standings in those categories. Daniel Ramos, Annapolis bound, had the team’s second highest score at 4,922.9 points, and Colburn had 4,892.9 points for the third highest score.
Overall, the Warrior Academic Decathlon team finished seventh in a field of 16. All the top placing schools have for-credit classes for Academic Decathlon while the students at Fallbrook High do all of their training on a volunteer basis.
Academic Decathlon requires teams to compete in 10 different academic areas with a new theme each year. This year the theme was the French Revolution.
Teachers Debbie Berg, Dave Evans and Tracy Markham are the team coaches.
