Live Oak holds Living History Day

FALLBROOK – As part of their gifted and talented education program, Live Oak students had the opportunity to participate in a colonial “Living History Day” at the end of January. Students were given an assignment to role play and get into costume for the role.

Each student was given a quote or memorable historical fact associated with the character. For example, student Patrick Henry recited “I am a patriot who says, if we wish to be free, we must fight, we must fight. Is life so dear or peace so sweet to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Almighty God, I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.”

Students learned about history, and the 13 colonies, but also had fun doing so. Next month, fifth graders will be going to Riley’s Farm on a colonial field trip where they will live for a few hours as colonists while learning about key historical events.
