AAUW and AVID present profiles of women

FALLBROOK – Each year the Fallbrook and Temecula branches of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) join together for their general meeting. This year, AVID students and their mentors from the Fallbrook branch will present a program entitled Profiles of Women – Past and Present – which showcases famous women.

The program and brunch will be held at the Vista Valley Country Club in Vista on Saturday, March 13 at 10 a.m. The public is invited and the cost is $20. Reservations can be made by calling Julie Norberg, co-president of Fallbrook AAUW, at (760) 728-8700.

Each AVID participant will depict a woman who broke barriers for other women such as Sally Ride, Amelia Earhart, Oprah, and Jane Austin, all names familiar to most people. The girls from the AVID program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) at Fallbrook High School have been writing their scripts, creating props and costumes and practicing their parts. Background music will be provided by Dennis David who is well known in the community for assisting youth groups.
