Fallbrook Quilt Guild to feature San Diego County quilt artists

FALLBROOK – Martie Winkelman, a native San Diegan and wearable art enthusiast will be the featured speaker at the Fallbrook Quilt Guilds’ meeting on April 1. She has created ensembles for the prestigious invitational Fairfield Fashion Show and her work has also been displayed at the San Diego Quilt Show as guest fashion artist. She will be presenting a “trunk show” featuring a variety of quilts and garments.

Local quilt artist Carol Harpin will present the Fallbrook Quilt Guild’s April 3 workshop. Harpin is a quilter with a flare for the unusual. Her humorous portrait quilts are examples of her talents. She will inspire students to create their very own unusual pieces. Her unique whimsical subjects include Botox Betty, Teething Tessie, and Balding Barney.

This workshop will be conducted on Saturday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fallbrook Public Utility Districts’ Board Room. For cost and to enroll, contact Carol Carpenter at (760) 728-9494.

The Fallbrook Quilt Guild meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Fallbrook Community Center. The business meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a social and refreshment time; the program begins at 7:30 p.m. Guests are welcome at meetings for a donation of $3.
