FYPG pledges to prevent underage drinking

Over 5,000 children die each year due to underage drinking in the U.S. These tragic deaths are preventable and there is an extraordinary group of young people in our community trying to do something about it!

The Fallbrook Youth Prevention Group (FYPG) is an on-campus collection of dedicated Fallbrook High School students trying to save lives and educate their peers on the dangers of underage drinking. These remarkable students have partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD), The Fallbrook Healthcare District, The Fallbrook High School PTSA, The Sheriff’s Department, The North Inland Community Prevention Program (NICPP) and other civic groups. Fallbrook High School Principal Rod King and Superintendent Dr. Dale Mitchell are fully supportive of their efforts.

FYPG is comprised of students Jessica Salas, Estela Nieto, Malorie Allen, Jessica Lopez, Zayra Cisneros, Deisy Salas and Alexis McSurdy. They are supervised by Stephanie Ackroyd, a youth development specialist with NICPP.

The FYPG is calling on parents and youth to pledge not to be a party to underage drinking. I fully support this noble effort and thank FYPG for their hard work and dedication. I’ve pledged not to be a party to underage drinking. How about you?
