Local restaurants and wineries to be featured at Film Festival gala

FALLBROOK – A Gala Award Celebration on Sunday evening, April 11, is just one of the highlights of the Third Annual Fallbrook Film Festival which will be held April 9 to 11 at the Ultra-Star Cinema in Bonsall’s River Village. Local restaurants and wineries will showcase their finest for the grand finale of the festival.

Elegance on Display will provide the desserts as proprietor Jennifer Duarte surprises the crowd with her imaginative cakes.

During the gala guests may sample two fine wines from Fallbrook’s Orizaba Winery. Sam and Leslie Oriza, proprietors of the boutique winery, will be pouring their 2007 Symmetry (a cabernet blend - cabernet sauvignon 65 percent, cabernet franc 16 percent, merlot 19 percent) and their 2007 Syrah (100-percent Syrah). All of the grapes were grown in their Fallbrook vineyard and the wine was aged and bottled onsite. Both wines have a subtle aroma of berries and cherries.

Other establishments providing the best of their fare at Sunday’s gala or the opening night reception on Friday, April 9 are: Village Pizza, Fresco Grill & Wine Bar, Peking Wok, Estrella’s Restaurant, Sourdough Pizza, Trupiano’s, Pala Mesa Resort, Lone Madrone Winery (Paso Robles), El Dorado Brewery and Palm Beer.

The night wouldn’t be complete without music; and the talented Fallbrook duo Robin Adler and Dave Blackburn will entertain guests with their mellow repertoire.
