Free workshop on controlling Type I Diabetes

ESCONDIDO – Advanced Medical Care and Research announces a free workshop to be held Saturday, April 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. at 700 W. El Norte Parkway, Escondido, Calif. 92026. Breakfast will be served.

Seminar will include updates on the most current therapies and technologies that can improve controlling Type I Diabetes.

Since continuous glucose monitoring was approved by the FDA in 2006, AMCR has been involved in the early trials with several CGM devices. CGM is a key technology proven to increase glycemic control while not increasing the risk for hypoglycemia, something not seen even with the newer insulins, oral medications or insulin pump therapy.

CGM offers many benefits compared to self-monitoring of blood glucose alone: continuous glucose readings every five minutes; directional arrows and trends to tell you where you are going and how fast you are going there; and adjustable alerts to help prevent you from trending too high or too low.

Most insurance companies now cover CGM when certain medical criteria is met, making it easier to access this important technology.

Speaker C. West Schott MSN, NP-C will host the event and discuss Dexcom CGM in more detail. Please RSVP by calling (760) 743-1431 or e-mail to [email protected]
