Rotarians learn about the heart

FALLBROOK — Dr. Wayne B. Whitwam recently presented an extremely interesting program on the human heart to the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club. Whitwam put his presentation into laymen’s words, accompanied by a Power Point presentation.

Whitwam described the human heart by comparing it to a car’s engine, listing the three major components as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Whitwam said he can recognize and treat the heart for any problems caused by the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, but he prefers to deal with the electrical system, otherwise known as electrophysiology. He detailed the positive difference pacemakers can make for certain patients. Dr. Whitwam is currently establishing a practice in Fallbrook.
