Those who testified helped get rate extended

On March 25, 2010, the San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors voted to extend the Special Agricultural Water Rate (SAWR) for two additional years—through December 31, 2012—leaving in place a rate differential valued at approximately $5 million annually to agricultural customers in the Authority’s jurisdiction.

The California Avocado Commission thanks those who attended and testified at the meeting, including Charley Wolk, Scott McIntyre, Randy Haskell, Bob Lucy, Eric Larson, Janet Kister, and Chuck Badger, without whom our chances of success would have been diminished.

Extension of the SAWR for another two years was the result of a collaborative effort involving the San Diego Farm Bureau, north county water agency managers, CAC, and individual growers.
