An opportunity to connect children with nature

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Land Conservancy (FLC) is offering an opportunity for the community to “play outside” during an Open House and 5K Fun Run and Walk at one of its beautiful preserves on Saturday, April 24, at the Palomares House on Stage Coach Lane. It’s a chance to celebrate spring, rediscover nature and encourage children to experience the joys of playing outside.

From 8:15 to 11:30 a.m., the open house will feature informative displays about the FLC, north county conservation and local resources for outdoor activities. The 5K Fun Run and Walk begins at 9 a.m. and will wind through peaceful Los Jilgueros Preserve, a local gem and the FLC’s most popular preserve. Docents will be on hand in the preserve to answer questions and talk about the flora and fauna. At just over three miles, the walk and run will be a great way for families to spend a morning together.

Registration for the walk/run is available at the event for $15, which includes a T-shirt. For more information, go to http://www.fallbrooklandconservancy.org, and then to ‘upcoming events,’ or call (760) 728-0889.
