Rose experts featured at Garden Club meeting

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Garden Club’s April 27 meeting will feature two noted rosarians, Dona and Bob Martin. Dona is a consulting rosarian, past president of the Mesa East Valley Rose Society, and is newsletter editor for the San Diego Rose Society. Bob is currently President of the San Diego Rose Society and has been growing roses for 38 years. They live in Escondido where they are developing a new rose garden that now has over 200 roses.

With over 500 published articles on roses and a book, “Showing Good Roses,” Bob is a prolific writer. He is co-editor of Rose Exhibitors’ Quarterly and editor of Horizon Roses. He is well known as a rose evangelist, having spoken at 16 ARS national conventions, at district conventions in 11 different districts, and at rose societies throughout the U.S. He is also an active rose exhibitor at the national, district and local levels, and a hybridizer with eight registered varieties, including the show roses “Butter Cream,” “Peter Cottontail,” and “Pasadena Star.”

The Fallbrook Garden Club meeting is held at the Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Lane, on the last Tuesday of each month, beginning at 12:30 p.m. (social), with the general meeting following at 1 p.m. The public is most cordially invited.
