Bonsall teachers honored

BONSALL – Radio and television stations and the San Diego County Office of Education have recently honored the exceptional skills of two Bonsall Elementary School teachers.

Radio station KPRI 102.1 FM presented fourth grade teacher Phyllis Minner, an exceptional writing teacher whose entire class was proficient or advanced in English Language Arts and Mathematics on the California Standards Test, as the winner of their “Teachers Make a Difference” award.

While presenting the award, KPRI’s disc jockey, Jodina, described Minner as a “teaching rock star!”

NBC TV selected Gretchen Bolton, an English Language Development teacher at Bonsall Elementary, as their “Inspirational Teacher of the Month,” and filmed reporter Rory Devine’s recent surprise visit and presentation of the award in Bolton’s class.

The presentation will be aired on NBC at 4 p.m. on May 6. When asked about these teachers, Bonsall Elementary School Principal Lori Cummins said, “Everyone knows how much Phyllis deserves this award, and sometimes when I observe Gretchen’s teaching it makes me so happy it brings tears to my eyes.”
