FALLBROOK – Members of the Fallbrook Woman’s Club competed in the annual Palomar District fine arts and crafts festival in February at the Escondido’s Woman’s Club. The competition is open to all members of the 14 clubs comprising the Palomar District.
The winning Best of Show entries from the district clubs continue to the state level where they will compete with clubs within California. Winners of the state judging in creative writing and photography will compete at the national level.
Five members of the Fallbrook Woman’s Club won Best of Show at the district level in creative writing, fine art, and crafts. Joan Krupczak won in creative writing for her inspirational article, “Eulogy for a Clubwoman,” a tribute to former member Mary Jane Pfeil. Krupczak has been advised that her entry has won at the state level and has proceeded to Washington D.C. for judging at national level.
Winners at the national level will be announced at the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) International Convention in Omaha, Nebr. in June.
Other Best of Show winners were Ayn Bryant in Fine Arts, Acrylic Still Life; Shirley Ledda in Crafts, Needlework for a purse; Nafo Tabikh in Crafts, Knitted layette; and Sally Vinyard in Crafts, Apparel Sewing for a kimono.
Bryant, Ledda, Tabikh and Vinyard await the results of judging at the state level which will be announced at the state convention in San Francisco in May. Arts and Crafts do not compete at the national level.
