Fallbrook High grad named Teacher of Year in Kings County

KINGS COUNTY – Kristin (Wilson) Duarte, a graduate of the Fallbrook High School Class of 1995, was named Teacher of the Year for King County, Calif. on April 15. Duarte teaches fifth grade at Mark Twain Elementary School in Corcoran, Calif.

During the award process, it was revealed that Duarte begins each school year by writing a personalized letter to each of her incoming students, stating her confidence in the student’s ability to succeed and flourish.

Duarte received her bachelor’s degree from Scripps College/Claremont Colleges in 1999 and master’s degree from University of Phoenix in 2006.

She is married to Lt. Commander Mario Duarte, USN aviator and will move to Japan in July due to her husband’s military transfer.
