DAR installs new officers

BONSALL – On Thursday, May 20, the Monserate Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution installed new officers for 2010 – 2012.

The DAR provides over $1 million annually in support to six schools located in deprived areas. They also sponsor American History Essay Contests and scholarships. The DAR is heavily supportive of patriotic projects and historic preservation. Each year the National Society DAR donates clothing, sundries and phone cards to the wounded military whom have been transported from Iraq and Afghanistan to Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany.

Meetings are held at 11:30 a.m. at the Vista Valley Country Club, October through May. Any woman 18 years or older, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership. There are currently 170,000 members throughout the world.
