Woman drives vehicle into Chase bank building

Eye witnesses have reported that a woman drove a red-colored Buick into the building that houses Chase bank in Fallbrook about 3 p.m. this afternoon.

The vehicle struck wood and glass portions of the building from the north side, sending glass shattering into the bank's lobby area. Two customers were near the point of entry.

"I got hit with some of the shattered glass," said customer B. Young. "My girlfriend jumped out of the way really quick."

Young said he and his girlfriend heard tires screeching shortly before the building was struck.

"Then, bam! She nearly came right through the window next to us," he said.

Young said fortunately a private ambulance service was passing through the parking lot at the time and emergency workers responded immediately to the scene to check for injuries.

When asked for a description of the woman driver, Young said she appeared to be a senior citizen.

Her condition is unknown at this time.
