Artists to learn about composition and brushes

FALLBROOK – The next meeting of the Fallbrook Art Association will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 14, at the Fallbrook Public Utilities Department (FPUD) building, 990 E. Mission Road. The guest artist will be BJ. Wilson.

Prior to the painting demonstration and meeting there will be an informal critique session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Artists are invited to bring one or two paintings that are in progress (in any media format) and will receive suggestions on improving their work from Wilson.

Wilson has had a long and varied career in the “art business” including graphic designer and art director, painting instructor, art history lecturer and judge for local art shows and county fairs. She currently resides in Irvine, Calif.

Wilson will be conducting a painting workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 19. The content will feature the use of color, shapes, and structure to effectively compose and execute paintings. The workshop will be held at FPUD. Call (951) 698-7990 for information and cost or to register for the workshop.

In addition to the painting demonstration at the meeting, Judy Coyle from Design Systems will provide an explanation of the types of paintbrushes and their use with various art media. Brushes will be available for purchase
