45th annual Vintage Car Show a roaring success

FALLBROOK – On Sunday, May 30, the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club (FVCC) held its 45th consecutive annual Vintage Car Show on the grounds of Potter Jr. High School.

Organizers estimate that between five and six thousand people attended this year’s show. According to the organization’s sanctioning body, the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Fallbrook show is considered the longest running and most successful show of its kind, west of the Mississippi River.

This year’s show featured 300 vintage cars, a Car Corral (vintage cars for sale), vendor booths, a raffle, souvenir stand, breakfast and lunch items, and entertainment by Elvis impersonator King Kruk.

Cars entered in the show were judged and awards were presented to the Best of Class winners in all 36 categories.

In addition, awards were presented to the favorite vehicles selected by Miss Fallbrook Kandace Kooyman, Honorary Mayor Gail Martin, and FVCC president Roy Moosa.

The Best of Show award for 2010 went to Gordon Wangers’ immaculate 1934 Pierce Arrow sedan. Wangers uncle, Jim Wangers, was a famous General Motors product planner and thought to be “father” of the Pontiac GTO.

The awards this year were in the form of a very attractive nine-inch by seven-inch ceramic tile adorned with a picture of the 2010 car show poster.

“The FVCC would like to thank everyone who attended the show,” said FVCC president Roy Moosa. “Proceeds from this event allow the club to donate to local charities throughout the year.”
