Two-year-old falls from window

A two-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries Saturday afternoon, June 19 when he fell from a second story window of his family’s home.

Emergency responders responded to the residence, located in the Lake Rancho Viejo housing development in Fallbrook, after receiving a 911 call from the boy’s mother at approximately 4:30 p.m.

“No one at the scene knew exactly what happened,” said John Buchanan, public information officer for North County Fire.

“It appears that the two-year-old was in his bedroom on the second floor of the home when he fell out of an open window in the room. The window did not have a screen on it.”

Buchanan said the tot landed on a concrete slab on the ground level.

“When our paramedics arrived and saw he had life-threatening injuries, they immediately called Mercy Air for transport, “said Buchanan. “They took [the child] by helicopter to [Rady] Children’s Hospital in San Diego.”

Buchanan said North County Fire has not received any updates on the child’s condition.
