C. Guy Warfel

C. Guy Warfel, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on June 12, 2010 at home with his family at Casa de las Campanas in Rancho Bernardo at the age of 94.

Guy was born in Brandon, Colo. on June 28, 1915 and came to California with his family as a young boy. He graduated from Occidental College in 1941 where he met his wife, Helen Kirkpatrick. They were married on September 12, 1942 in Glendale, Calif. He also earned a Master’s degree in Education from USC. His career as a school administrator in Moorpark, Hemet, La Verne and Claremont, Calif. spanned more than 30 years and was followed by three years of teaching in the US Trust Territory of Saipan.

In 1978 Guy and Helen moved to Fallbrook, and in 1982 with a partner started a small manufacturing company, Arcoa Industries that made E-Z Reacher pick-up tools for the medical and industrial markets. Guy was actively involved in running Arcoa until the company sold in 2007.

Guy and Helen loved classical music and traveled much of the world together in their retirement. They were active in the Church of Religious Science and devoted to their family and friends.

Guy is survived by Helen, his loving wife or 67 years and his children, Marty (Fritz) Ziegenfuss of Fallbrook and Chet (Becky) Warfel of Escondido; six grandchildren, Darren (Jackie) Welch, Christopher (Autumn) Welch, Alexander (Lindsey) Welch, Guy Warfel, Kirk (Heather) Warfel and Corinne Warfel; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Warfel and Isabella, Luke & Oliver Welch.

Guy will be honored at a private service and his ashes will be interred in a family area at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his beloved Fallbrook Music Society, PO Box 340, Fallbrook, CA 92088, or to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 West Crest Street, Escondido, CA 92025, which is an organization of angels who made it possible for him to spend his last days here with us in peace and comfort.

Guy was a gentle, loving man whose 94 years embodied to all who knew and loved him the true meaning of unconditional love.
