Show gratitude by volunteering

With July 4th approaching, how can we reaffirm our gratitude for our freedom? If we’re not equipped for military duty like our all-volunteer force, we can still show our gratitude through volunteering. Many worthy nonprofits need our help.

I’ve chosen two that, for me, reconnect me to my humanity: The Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary saves and finds homes for abandoned pets. TIP - Trauma Intervention Program - sends volunteers to be with survivors of traumatic events (usually sudden deaths) until family members arrive.

Many know about the sanctuary, but if not, go to There are only four TIP volunteers in the Fallbrook/Bonsall area. We need more, especially teens and Spanish-speakers. Volunteers go through rigorous training. You’ll know how to respond when called.
