Helicopter up over Alturas Road looking for juvenile suspect

The Sheriff's ASTREA helicopter is currently searching the area over Alturas Road in Fallbrook for a juvenile is thought to be in possession of a knife.

Sgt. Ron McCracken of the Fallbrook Sheriff's Substation said a deputy patrolling the Alturas Road area happened upon what looked like a potential gang fight scene between a group of juveniles when some began to flee the area.

Two suspects are currently being detained, but one thought to be in possession of a knife has continued to elude officers.

"They know who he is, they are just trying to locate him," said Lt. Munsing of the Sheriff's command center in San Diego.

Munsing said the officers in the helicopter are broadcasting an alert to residents in the area to be on the look out for a "Hispanic male juvenile with a chubby build, wearing a gray hat and gray long-sleeved shirt."

Area residents that spot the youngster are asked to call the Sheriff's communications center at (858) 565-5200, or if he is discovered on one's property, 9-1-1 should be utilized.
