Crash in early a.m. hours causes injury on I-15

DEER SPRINGS - A motorist suffered major injuries early today when a sedan collided with a tractor-trailer car carrier in an apparent drunken driving crash on a North County freeway, authorities said.

The crash on southbound Interstate 15, just north of Deer Spring Road, occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Alcohol was believed to be a factor, CHP Officer Ray Scheidnes said. It was not immediately clear which driver may have been impaired or which was seriously injured.
