Fallbrook Senior Cribbage wins sixth straight match

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Senior Center cribbage team achieved its sixth straight win in 2010 at the Senior Challenge Cribbage match on June 24. The 38-player match went to Fallbrook based on the number of skunks they had.

Fallbrook won 66 games with 11 skunks to top the Oceanside team who had 67 wins but only six skunks. Who says that a point doesn’t count? All Oceanside needed to win the match was to win one more game. Six Oceanside players lost a game by one point. This includes four who lost their last game by the point.

By winning six games with a skunk, Carol Maston took top honors for the second month in a row. Second place went to Pay Gaynor with six wins. In third was Virginia Ballard with five wins and two skunks. The next five finishers each had five wins and one skunk. Based on the difference in points between the wins and losses, the order of finish was: Brian Guthrie; Rasa Hayward; Ed Wozniak; Anne Flaherty and Willie Williams.

Ed Wozniak won the $25 gift card donated by Wal-Mart.

The monthly matches are held at the Vista Elks Lodge, 1947 E. Vista Way, Vista (760) 724-1968 beginning at 12:30 p.m. The next match will be July 22, 2010.
