Girlfriends can take on Hollywood for some excitement

You deserve it. It is high time for some girlfriend-getaway encouragement. Don’t over think this one. Just decide on a destination, pack a weekend bag, and get the heck out of town for a few days. Call it the irresponsibility of summer, but this is a good chance to leave the family at home (forget about that stressful road trip!) and instead spend some fun time bonding with friends.

There are so many places in Southern California and beyond for girlfriends to go for a day or even longer this summer. To mentally prepare for the outing, get together for a few “Sex and the City” episodes as some extra confidence-boosting stimuli. Don’t forget to sift through the closet for that cute summer dress that hasn’t been worn for a year or more. Wear it like you’ve never worn it before!

If this is a weekend vacation, take the plunge and splurge on a special colorful wardrobe. Purchase something fun such as a funky pair of sunglasses, a glittery bag, or cute strappy heels. Make the item a memorable and unique signature piece especially for the trip.

A girlfriend-getaway idea:

Hollywood or bust

Dress like 30s starlets and head for Sunset Blvd. Wear the brightest red lipstick you can get away with and make it look like you belong on the silver screen or on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is where you’re headed. The famous sidewalk display attracts millions of tourists every year, and starts at two different places.

On Hollywood Blvd, the walk goes from Gower St. and travels down to La Brea Ave. On Vine St., the route is from Yucca St. to Sunset Blvd. The walkway stars honor movie actors, radio, television, and stage performers, as well as directors, singers, songwriters, and other well-known show-business personalities. Don’t forget your camera and pose with your girlfriends like you’re on the red carpet. Remember – body slightly angled, shoulders back, hand on hip, the picture of confidence.
