Stampede benefits charities

FALLBROOK – Pala Mesa Women’s Golf Club hosted its 19th annual invitational tournament, The Stampede, on June 2 and 3. Well over 100 players from all over the San Diego area and a few players from out of state participated in the event, which included two continental breakfasts, two lunches, a horserace on the first day and $10 in gold dollars for the tee prizes.

The co-chairpersons of the event were Pat Gallagher and Phyllis Molloff.

“The Stampede is such a detailed tournament that it involves nearly every member of our club to put it on. We are fortunate to have members who participate in our events and are eager to volunteer to help to put on this tournament,” said Molloff. “Many of the players are returning ones who look forward to the annual tournament. One of the best parts of the tournament is that the guests get to see people from year to year and renew friendships.”

Each year the club holds a raffle during the tournament and money generated from that raffle gets donated to various charities. The charities they chose for their 2010 donation are The City of Hope and the Foundation for Senior Care in Fallbrook.
