Three tribute bands played a total of 30 songs during a free concert August 28 at the Pala Casino’s Starlight Theater.
The End of Summer Party, which lasted over three hours when breaks between bands were included, featured the Van Halen tribute band Fan Halen, the Rolling Stones impersonators Rolling the Stones, and the Led Zeppelin followers Led Zepagain.
Approximately 1,000 fans sat on blankets on the lawn or stood and danced while the three bands played. “It’s met expectations,” said Bill Benbenck, Pala Casino Spa and Resort’s chief executive officer. “We’re hoping to do more of these.”
Fan Halen’s set list consisted of ten songs, including the instrumental “Eruption.” The four-member band’s 40-minute performance began with “Panama” and ended with “Jump.”
Rolling the Stones, which included a couple of female backup singers as well as five members representing the Rolling Stones band, spent approximately 55 minutes on stage. Their renditions began with “Jumping Jack Flash” and concluded with “Brown Sugar.”
The four members of Led Zepagain replicated the members of the band prior to the death of drummer John Bonham. Led Zepagain performed 11 songs, including two encore numbers. Their melodies which began with “Rock and Roll” and ended with the “Immigrant Song” consumed approximately an hour and a quarter, giving the concert a conclusion time of just before 9:15 p.m.
