Rotarians learn about great white sharks

FALLBROOK – The guest speaker for Village Rotary’s Aug. 24 meeting was Michael Domeier, president of the Marine Conservation Science Institute. He explained the methods, reasons, and extensive planning that goes into capturing, tagging, and releasing great white sharks. He has a new series, which will be seen on the National Geographic channel this coming year.

He answered a question from the audience about how to defend oneself if attacked by a shark. “The only thing to do is to get to the ocean floor as soon as possible, staying there until the shark is gone.”
