Richard Lee Crook passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2010 of natural causes. He was born on June 8, 1945 to parents Nathan and Jean Crook, in Red Bluff, Calif. He was a graduate of Red Bluff High School, where he played football and basketball.
After graduation he began his distinguished real estate career in Gridley, Calif. In 1995, he realized his lifelong dream by co-founding Ashbrook Communities, along with his partner and friend, Timothy McGowan. He served in the real estate development industry for 45 years. He was an active member of the San Diego and Riverside BIA.
In addition to his real estate career, Richard was an active member of the Fallbrook community for over 20 years, supporting many philanthropic causes. He was an avid tennis player and a very special member of the Fallbrook Tennis Club. He loved spending time outdoors with family and friends, whether it was hunting, fishing, boating, mountain biking, or skiing.
Richard is survived by his two children Erica Castellanos and Ashley Crook; son-in-law Carlos Castellanos; grandsons Gabriel and Julian Castellanos; sister Trudi Mendoza; and nephews Cory and Casey Mendoza. He was a much loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 4 at 11 a.m. at the Grand Tradition Estate located at 1602 South Mission Road, Fallbrook, Calif. 92028.
Dad’s kind and generous spirit has touched many lives, and he will be greatly missed. In the wise words of his four-year-old grandson, Gabriel, “Bye, Bye Grandpa, I love you!”
