At 10:10 this morning, an San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) representative said power to all homes in the Fallbrook area should have been restored, but the traffic signals at Interstate 15 and Mission Road are still not functioning properly due to the lightening strikes yesterday.
"My understanding is that they hope to have the signals restored by noon today," said April Balduc of SDG&E.
An earlier report showed that about 2,000 addresses throughout San Diego County were without power early due to 22 separate weather-related outages.
All of the outages occurred Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening -- from Oceanside and Fallbrook to Chula Vista and Crest -- as a series of thunderstorms brought an unusually large amount of lightning and rain to the county.
Throughout the afternoon Thursday, 24,200 SDG&E customers lost power for a time.
The single largest standing outage affected 1,056 addresses in the Oceanside, San Luis Rey and Ocean Hills area, SDG&E reported.
Some of the outages were directly caused by rain damage to electrical systems, while others were blamed on weather-related traffic accidents that damaged electrical systems, such as the one affecting the Oceanside area early today.
