Stergulz is featured artist for art association

FALLBROOK – The next general meeting of the Fallbrook Art Association will be held on Monday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Fallbrook Public Utility District building, 990 E. Mission Rd. Richard Stergulz will be the featured guest artist and painting demonstrator.

Stergulz will share his painting expertise by providing an oil portrait demonstration. The meeting is open to the public at no charge.

Preceding the meeting, there will be an informal critique session from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. Artists are invited to bring one or two paintings that are in progress in any media and in order to receive input from Stergulz, who will assist the artists in improving their work.

Stergulz graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 1983 and began a successful commercial art career that lasted 12 years. A fine artist, Stergulz currently resides in Murrieta, teaches painting classes, and performs painting demonstrations for most of the art associations in San Diego and Riverside counties. Stergulz’s paintings have won many awards, from Best of Show to People’s Choice. He has also been selected to serve as a judge for the San Diego County Fair fine arts exhibit. His portraits were accepted into the prestigious Salon International Juried show in 2009 and in 2010. In 2009, at that show, his work received an Honorable Mention for Artistic Excellence and was also included in the Jury’s Top 50 paintings.

Stergulz’s work hangs in galleries in Cody, Wyo., Santa Monica, Idyllwild and Fallbrook.

Stergulz will be conducting a painting workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at FPUD. For cost and more information or to register for the workshop, call (951) 698-7990. For additional information about the Fallbrook Art Association, visit http://www.fallbrookartassn.org.
