Five members of Fallbrook High School’s boys cross-country team earned medals for being among the top 40 finishers in their race at the Mount Carmel/Movin’ Shoes Cross-Country Invite meet September 18 at Morley Field in San Diego.
The senior boys race saw Michael Froboese place 14th with a time of 15:45 on the 2.95-mile course while Justin Jones was 31st at 16:10 and Ramon Villagomez had a 38th-place time of 16:15. Enrique Rivera’s time of 16:30 gave him 35th place in the junior boys race. In the sophomore boys Connor Froboese completed the course in 17:24 to earn 27th place.
“It went pretty well,” said Fallbrook boys coach Marco Arias.
Arias noted that most team members improved their times from last year’s race by a minute or more.
“I was very pleased with the overall effort,” he said.
A total of 203 boys competed in the senior race, and six Warriors finished in the top half of the field. In addition to the three medalists, Andrew Donnelly had a time of 16:41 to place 64th, Nick Johnson placed 84th at 17:00, and Joel Rivera completed the course in 17:42 to take 101st place.
In addition to Rivera, the 251 juniors included 64th-place Caleb Ashbrook, who had a time of 17:11, and Eric Ingerson, whose time of 18:05 produced a 108th-place finish.
Connor Froboese was the only Warrior to finish among the top half of the 261 sophomores. Fallbrook’s fastest freshman was Billy Osterman, who took 19:47 to complete the course and finished 65th. Ian Winterstrom was 91st in the freshman race with a time of 20:17.
“It was a great meet. It was perfect weather for running,” Arias said.
