Foulkes shares WWII POW experience with Rotary

FALLBROOK – Don Foulkes, First Lieutenant, US Air Force (Ret.), talked to Rotary club of Fallbrook recently about his experiences as a prisoner of war (POW) during World War II.

Foulkes’ story started when his plane was shot down over Hungary after an air attack on German munitions locations. After parachuting into an open field, he was rounded up, along with other pilots and crew, and taken to one of the Stalag German prisons. Food, clothing and medical aid were severely lacking, and his captors refused to provide the prisoners with the Red Cross supplies sent to the prisons.
