The county’s Planning Commission voted to grant a Major Use Permit for a wireless communications facility on Hoxie Ranch Road in Bonsall.
The Planning Commission’s 6-0 vote September 24, with Bryan Woods absent, allows the construction of a 30 foot high false water tower which will screen 12 panel antennas and 24 tower mounted amplifiers. The Major Use Permit also allows for the replacement of an existing equipment enclosure for two existing wireless communications facilities on the site with a new concrete masonry unit wall which will be eight feet in height and will enclose both the existing and proposed equipment. Additional landscaping will screen the equipment enclosure.
The property in the 29500 block of Hoxie Ranch Road totals 3.0 acres and has A70, or limited agricultural, zoning. A single-family residence, in addition to the two existing wireless communication facilities, is on the property. Access to the site will be provided from Hoxie Ranch Road, which is a private road.
The new wireless communication facility will serve AT&T customers. The existing facilities are maintained by Verizon and T-Mobile.
On March 2 the Bonsall Sponsor Group voted 4-2 to recommend approval of the Major Use Permit.
