FALLBROOK – On Oct. 29, the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County will officially kick off the annual Step Up to the Plate/It Just Takes One fundraising campaign with a party at the Fallbrook home of Rebecca Wood and Ira Gourvitz.
Featuring food, entertainment, and refreshments, the event will provide information for guests on the positive impact the club has on its’ members.
“The goal of the campaign is to raise $110,000 to support the five core program areas the club offers its members,” said Merrilee Neal, campaign commissioner.
The campaign features three mock baseball teams made up of one team captain and six to nine players per team that will compete against each other to see which team can raise the most funds for the organization. This year the team captains will be club members and the players will be made up of board members and community volunteers.
The teams and captains are: the Dodgers – team captain Thomas Roberts; the Angels – team captain Jeannette Vizzuett; and the Padres – team captain Jamie Jacobs.
Proceeds from the campaign remain in the community to support numerous worthy activities for children through the club.
Anyone interested in attending the kick off party on Oct. 29 is invited to call (760) 728-5871. Space is limited.
