Luevano recognized for role in abatement efforts

Fallbrook Fire Safe Council member Fred Luevano, second from left, is recognized for his efforts by North County Fire Protection District representatives, Fire Marshal Sid Morel, far left, board president Kathleen Thuner, and Fire Chief Bill Metcalf, far right, at a recent board of directors meeting. Luevano has been the lead Fire Safe Council member in applying for and administering numerous grants for vegetation abatement that has protected 6,800 structures and treated over 1000 acres besides saving numerous homes during the 2007 Rice Fire.
