Eric Larson, executive director of the San Diego County Farm Bureau, had more challenges than positive news to share regarding area agriculture when he addressed the Fallbrook Revitalization Council on October 21 at Fallbrook Public Utility District.
The top challenges in the farming community, Larson said, are water, immigration reform, pest exclusion, and the economy.
Water
When it comes to water, Larson said the price, supply and quality are all problematic for growers. And it looks like that will lead to sweeping changes.
