NC Fire says neither SR76 alternative is 'perfect'

At its Oct. 19 meeting, the North County Fire Protection District board of directors reviewed the two proposed route alternatives for SR76 offered for public review by the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and deemed it necessary to draft a letter outlining its concerns about both alignments.

Fire Chief Bill Metcalf explained to the board that his staff members had carefully reviewed the documents pertaining to both the Existing (northern) and Southern alignments offered, but found they could not unconditionally support one particular alignment over the other.
