SAN DIEGO - A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck the Imperial Valley and eastern San Diego County today, according to automated seismographs and computers operated by the U.S. Geological Survey.
The shock was centered about 20 miles north of Jacumba, or about 120 miles east of San Diego. It hit at 12:39 p.m.
The epicenter was in a mostly-unpopulated desert area 9 miles north of Ocotillo, on the San Diego-Imperial County line.
