Padres announce 2011 Minor League Storm coaching staff - Lezcano first Storm manager to reach 300 wins

Lake Elsinore, CA-On Tuesday, November 9, the San Diego Padre3s officially announced their Minor League coaching staffs for the 2011 season.

Carlos Lezcano returns for his fifth season as manager of the Storm and 19th as a Minor League manager. Over the past four seasons, Lezcano compiled a 299-260 record and with his first victory in the 2011 season, he will become the first Storm manager to reach 300 wins.

Prior to joining the Padres, Lezcano spent four seasons in the Yankees Minor League system (1986-1989) and five seasons in the Mariners system (1990-1994) including three as a manager. After the Mariners, Lezcano went on to manage in the Giants Minor League system for three seasons (1995-1997). He led the San Jose Giants to tow consecutive California League finals as well as taking home his first California League Manager of the Year award in 1996. In 1998, Carlos moved on to the Brewers where he managed in Rookie-Level and Double-A clubs from 1999-2002.

In 2003, Lezcano joined the Padres system acting as manager for the Rookie-level Idaho Falls Padres (2003) and Arizona Padres (2004-2006). In 2006, Lezcano led the AZ Pads to a League Championship and was honored wiht the Jack Krol Award for his contributions to Padres player development.

Carlos joined the Lake Elsinor Storm as manager in 2007, leading the team to four consecutive playoff berths from 2007-2010. Lezcano also won a Southern Division Championship in 2007 along with his second California League Manager of the Year award in 2010.

Another familiar face returning for his fifth season with Lake Elsinore is athletic trainer Will Simon. The upcoming baseball season will also be Will's 14th as an athletic trainer in the Padres system.

Joining Lezcano and Simon are pitching coach Bronswell Patirck, who is serving as pitching coach for his fourth Padres affiliate in four seasons, and former Padre Phil Plantier, who will be hitting coach. Plantier spend the 2010 season as minor league hitting co-ordinatior for the Seattle Mariners.
