Camp Pendleton firefighters battle brush fire

CAMP PENDLETON - Camp Pendleton firefighters battled a brush fire burning on the post at Camp Pendleton today, authorities said.

The fire was reported just after 2:40 p.m. near the Las Pulgas Road exit on Interstate 5, said a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.

Two of the highway's lanes were shut down by CHP because smoke was blowing across the road, but all lanes were reopened by 3:30 p.m., the dispatcher said.

The dispatcher did not know the size of the brush fire, but said Camp Pendleton firefighters were handling it.
