Base to get new $394 million 500,000 sq. ft. hospital

A groundbreaking ceremony was held December 2 to celebrate the beginning of construction on a new 500,000 square foot, four-story Naval Hospital that is in store for Camp Pendleton.

Surgeon General of the Navy, Vice Adm. Adam M. Robinson, Jr, was joined by military and civilian personnel involved with the project at the 70-acre site near the main gate. According to Doug Allen, the public affairs officer at the naval hospital, the building is the largest American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 project awarded in the Department of the Navy.
