Re: 'The crumbling of Main Street shops' [Letter, Village News, 12/9/10]

I just wanted you to know Mr. Sommers that I do not buy cheap. I never shop WalMart and I always shop Fallbrook first.

But, we have no book store, no music store, and no dress shop that doesn’t make you look like a gypsy. I hate high end decorator objects that leave me feeling cold. I mean, who wants a huge wooden pineapple on their end table? I don’t want to pay $42 for a baby outfit that will be outgrown in three months, especially when I have 11 grandchildren. What is there to buy here?

Let’s face it, the Fallbrook business consortium has always tried to make our town “artsy” for all those out-of-town tourists that they want to draw in on the weekends (who never come).

What they forget is the Monday through Friday it’s us that they need to please. We don’t need more art or more knickknacks. We need more of life’s necessities, the things that we actually use in our daily lives.

When we have this, then we will alls shop Fallbrook first.
