Coaster and Amtrak service between Oceanside and San Diego cancelled through Sun., Dec. 26

OCEANSIDE - Coaster and Amtrak train service between Oceanside and San Diego is cancelled through the Christmas holiday weekend.

An afternoon inspection conducted by NCTD engineers revealed considerable erosion of the soil beneath a mile long section of track near Sorrento Valley, noting inadequate support to bear the weight of rail traffic. Crews will work around the clock to make the necessary repairs.

NCTD’s goal is to resume normal train service on Monday, Dec. 27.
